Global series
To mark the launch of the new ACCA Qualification, we are holding a worldwide series of events focusing on ACCA's approach to the teaching of professional values to both student and qualified accountants.
These events follow an extensive consultation with more than 30,000 individuals over a three year period on ACCA's new qualification, where ethics and professionalism was identified as an important area by all stakeholders. It was seen as a key area of competence by regulatory and advisory bodies, both nationally and internationally.
With the new ACCA Qualification, we will, for the first time, adopt a unique multi-pronged focus on ethics throughout the syllabus including a dedicated and holistic exam in the final level, tailored practical experience requirements and a unique online module which will present students with challenging real-life ethical dilemmas.
The new qualification will allow accountants and financial professionals of tomorrow to be equipped to operate in an industry subject to close scrutiny and to make sure that members in all business sectors benefit from relevant workplace training. It will first be examined in December 2007.
Additionally, from May 2007, trainees - students and affiliates - will have access to their own online Training Development Matrix (TDM) which can be accessed via myACCA.
The global series of Professionalism and Ethics events will reflect this focus professionalism and ethics and workplace competences, and will invite stakeholders of the profession to come together and discuss the issues facing accountancy as it moves forward.
Events are taking place throughout the year in countries worldwide.
